Origin
A top-seller in the US, since its emergence as a super-food packed with antioxidant vitamins, pomegranate is widely consumed as juice and as a drink flavour.
The fruit itself, which is mainly grown in America, Spain, the Middle East and India, originated in Iran. Its name derives from the medieval Latin ‘pomum granatum’ meaning seeded apple, which perfectly describes its appearance: pretty jewel-like sacs of juicy, sweet flesh surround scores of edible white seeds, which are encased in a bitter, pale yellow pith and a hard, shiny skin blushed with red or yellow.
Always highly prized for its flavour, this striking fruit is sprinkled in sweet and savoury salads to complement oranges, salad leaves, nuts and cheeses and is wonderful in desserts. Pomegranate syrup works well with duck, aubergine and fish.
Add the wholesome red berry, acidic flavour of MONIN Pomegranate syrup to make pretty ruby red cocktails, iced teas and lemonades.
Colour
Ruby red.
Tasting notes
Red berries (cherry, redcurrant, cranberry…), slightly sweet with a light acidic taste.
Beverage Innovation Directors tips
MONIN Pomegranate syrup will bring to your signature cocktails the perfect balance of the pomegranate taste with an acidic touch, never reached before!!! Instead of using a dash of lemon juice to balance your signature cocktails, use Pomegranate. For fruit punch, it can even replace both lemon juice and grenadine, and it also brings an exotic flavour.
